Most businesses view marketing the wrong way. It takes so much time, costs a lot of money, and of course there are those pesky marketers who keep emailing you. (hello there)
But what if I told you that if you do it right, your sales will skyrocket and you'll never look at marketing the same way again. Why don't you follow me on this journey and I'll explain everything.
Well.... not everything, because I still want you to hire me.
In a time and place that seems like a distant memory, I was doing marketing for a company. We started putting ads on Facebook, Instagram and Google and after a short test period we were able to analyze the data and see what was happening and those results were mercilessly bad.
I could hear my mind racing.....what's going on? Why aren't we selling much? We were even losing money with some ads!
Still, after the first month, the company was satisfied because the end result was positive. It was working... somehow. A few weeks later, they sent me an invitation to go to an event where they and some other companies would present their new products. A perfect networking opportunity. At that event, by dumb luck, I came in contact with a wise man....a veteran in sales and what he taught me changed everything.
We struck up a conversation and before I knew it, we were talking about my ads and what actually went wrong. I learned to write good text for an ad that explained everything about the product. I would create a paragraph that would snare the reader, hoping it would be enough to convince them to buy the product.
But when I showed it to him....he didn't even read the text. Instead, he looked at me and said:
"Keep it simple."
I didn't even get it. What did he mean by that and so I asked him. How he would sell the product and what ad he would have created. "Just use 1 simple headline, 1 simple sub-headline and a very clear and easy CTA. Keep it simple.
So that's what we did. Our sales skyrocketed and the ads did several times better than before. After that advice, we began our journey to keep it simple.
